2013 NYC DEC 6
On Friday morning, we got up and went to a place called the New York luncheonette where we had breakfast. Steve had eggs and bacon and I had pancakes and bacon. It cost about $30. It was pretty mediocre.
Our driver Ian picked us up about 11:00. Unfortunately, it rained most of the day. We drove around and we went to Central Park. we drove past the Dakota where John Lennon lived, we drove past the Lincoln Center for the performing arts, the Juilliard school of music, the Metropolitan opera, the New York City ballet, the space Museum, the pier, the world financial center, we visited the 9/11 memorial, which was extremely moving. We went to Battery Park city boardwalk to see the Statue of Liberty, we drove by the Hudson River where the plane landed in the river and saw the Navy ships, we passed the Museum of Jewish heritage, the national Museum of the American native Indian, and we took pictures of the bull on Wall Street. We saw the Brooklyn Bridge. We drove through Chinatown, Little Italy, Greenwich Village, soho, we saw the red square building and we had lunch at Katz's delicatessen, where the famous scene from when Harry met Sally was filmed, we had a Reuben on rye and root beer. It was $21. We went to the United Nations Plaza. We saw the Park Avenue armory, trump tower and the Helmsley building, we saw the biggest temple in New York City, and we drove past the Plaza Hotel. We went to Central Park South. We saw the Metropolitan Art Museum, We saw the Guggenheim Museum. We saw the Lasker Pool and ice rink. We went to Harlem. We saw the Harriet Tubman memorial statue, the duke Ellington Memorial, and the Apollo Theater. Nelson Mandela passed away today so Harlem had many tributes displayed for him. We drove past the Mount Sinai medical center which is huge and we went to Grand Central Station where both Steves had a beer and Debbie and I had hot chocolate. It was a beautiful building.
We went to la cirque for dinner. We got the four course dinner with the premium wine pairing. The cost was $1085, which is now the most expensive meal we have ever had. I would like to say it was worth it...but in all honesty...it wasn't.
