june 7 Missouri Arkansas Tennessee
Many of our trips were cancelled because of the covid virus. We wanted to travel but needed to begin slowly. So, we booked a short road trip to NOLA with stops in Memphis going down and Laurel Mississippi and Huntsville Alabama coming home.
We began the trip about 9 am on Monday with clear skies. We had pledged to stop in every state we crossed into to take pictures to verify we had been there. In our early days of travel…we did not do this, and we have several states that are undocumented. Our rules are…to count as a visit…we must touch the ground and breathe the air. We stopped in Blytheville Arkansas and used the rest rooms and got gasoline…and visited the GENUINELY nice welcome center. I picked up some postcards, took some pictures and resumed the drive to Memphis. We checked into the Peabody hotel and were assigned room 1156. It was a nice suite. We visited the ducks in the fountain. We walked Beale Street and stopped for fried pickles and wine at BB Kings. We went back to the hotel and had some drinks…I had the Peabody duck and watched the duck march. We went to the gift shop, and I bought a duck shirt and some socks for Saylor. We went back to the room to change for dinner at the Capriccio Grill. We had a bottle of Rombauer and shared a caprese salad. I had mushroom ravioli and Steve had salmon. We shared the signature dessert. We retired for the evening. Throughout the day, we found the staff of each establishment wore masks, but the patrons did not.
